Review: One of my buddies and I have been driving Liberties for years. He is on his second, i’m still on my first. When I bought the Liberty I test drove a 2007 Honda CRV, a 2007 Kia Sportage and a Suzuki Grand Vitara. The Liberty blew them away. It rode better, handled better and was quieter. Maybe because it was heavier it seemed like a more substantial vehicle than the Honda and way more substantial than the Kia. As for the Suzuki, no comparison.
It goes without saying that the Liberty is awesome in the winter, absolutely unstoppable once you put it into four-wheel drive. And I mean true 4 wheel drive, none of this All-Wheel Drive. Jeep does 4 wheel drive right. What my wife likes about the Liberty is the visibility and sitting up so high. She is kind of short and the Liberty really lets her see the road.
Just about the only thing I don’t like about the Liberty is the tire on the back, it makes it hard to keep the back window clean. Also, the gas mileage could be better.
I would buy a new Liberty in a heart beat but I don’t like the styling of the current version plus it has a terrible reliability record.
