2013 C-MAX MPG Improves Dramatically in Warmer Weather

We’ve had the C-MAX for 6 months now and the big news is the huge improvement in miles per gallon.  During the winter months the C-MAX averaged a somewhat disappointing 38 miles per gallon in-town.  Now that the weather has warmed up the C-MAX is averaging an unbelievable 51 miles per gallon.  Keep in mind this is all in-town driving, exactly what the C-MAX is designed for.   Once the air-conditioning season kicks in we expect to see a slight decrease in the MPG.

Update 6/16/2013:  Took the C-MAX on a road trip to Minneapolis and back, virtually all highway miles.  On the way to Minneapolis we drove mostly highways, averaging about 60 miles per hour and about 45 miles per gallon.  On the drive back we averaged 70 miles per hour on the interstate, but the miles per gallon dropped to 38.2.

The end result of the trip:  546 miles, 13.45 gallons of gas with an average miles per gallon of 40.6.  Clearly the C-MAX is geared for in-town driving and is at its best in warmer weather.
